Transat Holidays & Royal Caribbean: The Perfect Match

Award-Winning Air Transat Offers Most Flights

“Nobody does Europe cruises like Transat Holidays,” says Denis Codère, V. P. Sales, Commercialization & Development – Europe, at Transat Tours Canada. Well, of course he would say that, but Codère has no trouble offering evidence to back up his claim.

“We’ve got the most flights to link up with European cruises this summer, including daily flights to London, daily flights to Rome, 2 weekly flights to Barcelona and weekly flights to Venice,” Codère says.

And, those are just the YYZ departures. Air Transat will also take off to Europe this summer from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

The flights from Toronto to London, Rome, Venice and Barcelona will carry passengers to the homeports of 8 of the 9 Royal Caribbean International ships cruising Europe this summer. The other Royal Caribbean jumping-off spot is Copenhagen, which Transat Holidays services through its air consolidator program.

“We’ve got it covered,” says Codère. “We’re the perfect match.”

Codère is proud to remind Open Jaw readers that Air Transat was named World’s Best Leisure Airline at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards. He’s even more proud that the award was presented before the airline began an extensive upgrade program. “The future just looks more promising, because the in-flight experience is getting better and better. That really gives us an edge.”

Codère cites other factors that bode well for strong European cruise sales in 2013. The Euro is trending the right way – for Canadians at least – down significantly from a few years ago. That makes our dollars go further. And the Transat executive says, “Air prices are in sync with demand and very appealing.”

There are incentives too, from Transat Holidays and from Royal Caribbean. Transat Holidays is offering a $50 per person rebate on the air portion when air and cruise are booked together. Royal Caribbean is offering its own incentives, and Codère advises agents to stay tuned for more promotions this month, a big booking period for summer Europe cruises.

Agents aren’t forgotten either. From April 1st to 7th, Transat Holidays is offering 10X Bonbon rewards for bookings of balcony cabins or higher – that’s a bonus of $50 per cabin.

“We’ve got the right prices for air, great cruise incentives and a strong Bonbon incentive,” Codère says. “I think we have all the ingredients for a winner.”

Codère says Royal Caribbean offers some exciting itineraries this summer, as well as a broad range of choice. “There’s an extraordinary cruise series out of Harwich, England on Brilliance of the Seas. It visits Denmark, Sweden, Finland and spends 2 full days at St. Petersburg in Russia. It’s a top notch Royal Caribbean International program that’s perfect for clients who’ve already done the Med and the Greek islands.”

Good catch, Bill! The affront to said town of Harwich has been corrected.

Me thinks that the French accent came through there... Cruises out of Horwich? I would think more likely, Harwich. Been the stepping off point for Scandinavia from England for a long time.
