A great vacation should be like a dream come true. At the dozen Dreams Resorts & Spas in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, and debuting in Costa Rica later this year, the company aims higher, promising “Unlimited-Luxury® – Beyond Your Wildest Dreams.”

Dreams Resorts & Spas targets couples and families. There are 8 properties in Mexico’s leading resort destinations, 3 in the D.R. and 1 set to open November 1st in Costa Rica.

In a crowded market of all-inclusive brands all clamouring for the business of Canadian agents and their clients, what sets Dreams apart?

“There are many reasons why we describe our product as ‘Unlimited-Luxury®’ rather than all-inclusive,”says Jan LaPointe, Senior Director Sales & Marketing Canada for AMResorts.

“There’s a wide range of quality levels and restrictions within the ‘all-inclusive’ descriptor. Guests may be limited in how many times they can go to a specialty restaurant during their stay. They may have to get up early to make reservations. The bars may serve local liquors only. We offer a different experience and it’s important for potential customers to know that, because it has a huge impact on the quality of their vacation.”

At Dreams properties there are no wristbands. Reservations are not required at any of the restaurants, and guests can go as many times as they like. In fact, LaPointe says guests are invited to go to more than one in an evening if they so choose.

“They can have an appetizer at one, a main course at another and dessert at a 3rd if that’s their choice. If restaurants are busy, guests are given a beeper so they can relax elsewhere until space is available. We’ve really taken things to the next level.”

Room service is offered 24 hours a day and both pool and beach areas are serviced by wait staff. Bars feature premium brands like Stoli and Hennessy, and restaurants and bars offer products including American beers and Heinz ketchup for those who crave familiarity.

There’s a busy lineup of daytime activities and nighttime entertainment, and important events – from Cinco de Mayo to Easter, April Fool’s to the Kentucky Derby – are celebrated with on-resort themed activities.

For kids 3 to 12, there’s the Explorer’s Club, open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., professionally supervised and packed full of fun. For the different desires of 13-17-year-olds, there’s the Core Zone, offering sports, games, activities and nightly social events.

With the kids occupied some of the time, parents have the time to relax together by the pool, on the beach or at the Dreams Spa by Pevonia, where treatments range from the traditional to the transcendent.

Dreams properties are family-friendly, but there’s lots of room for romance too. The resorts are a popular spot for weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries, and there are a wide range of wedding and romance packages offered.

One more thing that sets Dreams apart is the free ‘Unlimited Connectivity’ app offered at most – and soon all -- AMResorts properties. It enables guests to make calls home, send messages or contact resort staff using the Wi-Fi network at no charge.

“You can make that spa appointment without leaving your deck chair,” says LaPointe. “How cool is that?”
