WestJet On Tour: Spring & Fall Travel Trade Expos

If you can’t make WS’s annual pageant – here’s the scoop

WestJet’s 2015 Travel Trade Expos were such a success that they are returning this year in much larger venues and in more cities. This year there will be 6 primary expos in May followed by 6 additional secondary expos in September, expanding the scope of the shows from last year.

“Being face to face with the people who sell our air seats and vacation packages offers many benefits,” says WestJet’s Director, Agency Sales Jane Clementino. “We learn a lot from agents’ questions and concerns. Often it’s about a small issue which we can easily address to improve their experience.”

Clementino says last year’s Expos resulted in another highly desirable but not totally expected outcome.

“We enjoyed a significant spike in sales following last year’s events. That gave us lots of incentive to return this year with a bigger and better program. We’ll have 75 vendors at each of the six big-city shows in May, so it’s a great opportunity for agents to find out what’s new for winter 2016/2017 at destinations and resorts,” Clementino says.

75 Partners Onboard For Agent Expos

Key partners participating in this year’s shows include: AMResorts, Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts, Barbados Tourism Marketing, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Melia Hotels International and Palace Resorts.

“We have doubled and tripled our attendance expectations for this year,” Clementino says. “We’re expecting to welcome 1,000 agents combined at the Toronto and Mississauga shows, and many more than last year in Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal.”

WestJet 2016 Travel Trade Expos will also be held in six smaller markets across Canada this September. The venues are Halifax, St. John’s, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Kelowna and Victoria. Stay tuned for dates and details.

During the Expos, agents will have the opportunity to interact with WestJetters at a series of booths and a presentation of everything that’s new at the company.

Key topics for presentation and discussion include the airline’s popular Plus product, WestJet Agent (formerly TA Web), the newly improved Travel Agent Resource website, WestJet Biz and much more. Attendees will also be invited to seminars put on by the WestJet Vacations supplier sponsors listed above.

Agents will also be invited to purchase fun travel gear and WestJet-branded merchandise at a pop-up store. Drinks, food and networking opportunities are also on the menu.

“You’re going to see a lot of us.”

“Clementino says Canada’s travel agents are going to see and hear a lot about WestJet in the coming months. They can look forward to the travel trade expos this month and in September and WestJet’s TA Awards in October as well as other fun gatherings that may pop up along the way.”
