It’s this sense of privacy and belonging that’s such a big hit with Canadian clients. Ceballos cites Canada as the property’s number one market, so when it comes to wooing Canuck travellers, what’s the Grand Esmeralda’s big secret?

“Our Canadian guests love our food and beverage offering, and they love that we cater to Canada’s two languages too,” added Ceballos. “Most of the hotels in the area only cater to English-speaking Canadians, but we have staff in the restaurants, entertainment team, kids’ club and concierge desk who are tri-lingual. For the Canadian market in particular, this is a great added value, and it gives us an advantage aver the other hotels in the area.”

The company also believes in supporting the Canadian travel agent community, providing marketing materials and special accommodation rates at certain times of the year. It even includes the travel agent logo in the welcoming letters it leaves in guests’ rooms.

“We have great support from the Canadian community and we support our travel agencies,” said Ceballos. “We work closely with the agents because at the end of the day they are an extension of our sales department. If they have any requests, we support them 100 percent.”
