An Entirely Refurbished Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar

With new swim-up suites, it’s the ideal adult-only getaway

Mark your diary, because on 1NOV there are going to be some big changes in Punta Cana, when Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts reveals the newly-revamped and renamed Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar.

Formerly known as the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue, this 528-suite oceanfront property has been closed since JUN, but will soon reopen and unveil a fresh, contemporary interior and new swim-up suites.

This adults-only retreat will also reveal a brand new coffee shop, three fully-refurbished a la carte restaurants, enhanced menus, a sports bar and a brand-new gym.

The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar’s impressive redesign comes at an exciting time for the brand, as it recently announced a portfolio rebranding and reclassified its properties into four categories offering distinct experiences. Oozing stylish elegance, the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar falls into Bahia Principe’s ‘Luxury’ category and its ‘Escape’ experience.

It’s no wonder that Gavin Jimenez, national accounts manager at Bahia Principe, is excited about the revamp.

“This is basically a brand new concept for Bahia Principe and it’s exciting because we’re doing a couple of firsts for Punta Cana,” he enthused. “We will have 144 swim-up suites at the property, so basically every single ground floor room will have access to a swim-up pool. As part of our Escape experience, this is really what our luxury brand’s all about, and your clients will have a butler, premium brand beverages, beach and pool service and full access to the Bahia Principe complex as well."

“The property will also have a much more of a modern and minimalist design concept, so it’ll be very different to what we've had in the past. When you look at our newly-designed suites you’ll see that they have a cozier look and are more like the hotels we’re used to here in Canada.”

It sounds like a bold transformation for the Bahia Principe band, so does Jimenez have any advice for travel agents on talking to their clients about the brand changes?

“I always tell travel agents to ask if the client is familiar with the Bahia Principe product,” said Jimenez. “We are very consistent with our product and if they’re looking for luxury, we consistently offer those little extras that people want -- and it usually doesn't cost much more to get that.”

So if your clients are looking for luxury, you can place the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar at the top of the suggestion list. But what else should travel agents keep in mind when they’re trying to qualify the perfect Ambar client?

“The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar does offer more of a quieter experience.” Jimenez added. “But we do have other properties in Punta Cana that are quite active, like the Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine, which is also being rebranded on November 1.”
