Ooooooh Canada!

From the great white north to city lights

The world’s second largest country, sprawling from sea to sea to sea and covering almost 10 million square kilometres, Canada is big, bold, beautiful, and ready to be explored. It’s no surprise then that with a network that connects people to every coast, Air Canada Vacations offers unforgettable experiences to match. Enter its 2019 Canada Collection.

"There’s no question that we’re seeing growing interest in our Canada Collection," said Dana Gain, senior director of sales, groups and partnerships for ACV. "It’s a new product for us – just launched in 2017 – and of course it takes time to grow traction and awareness for a new offering, but it’s a natural fit for us because we offer connector flights to so many Canadian cities."

Gain goes on to speak about the other highlights of the collection: "We also have the most complete air-inclusive offering, packages for every style of travel, urban getaways with added values, free standard seat selection and $100 future travel credit per couple."

But selling Canadian vacation packages to Canadians? Isn’t that something locals can easily sort out on their own?

"I would not hesitate to advise consumers to work with a trusted travel professional to book their travel," said Gain. "Of course now that everything is available online, everyone wants to do it on their own. But when it comes to travel there’s no substitute for involving a subject matter expert. Why not secure the best advice from a group of true professionals who base their entire business on what you might like to do on vacation?"

As with ACV’s Europe Collection, the Canada Collection also features guided tours with Trafalgar. "Trafalgar brings years of experience to the Air Canada Vacations perfect vacation," continued Gain. "The Rockies, including tours with Rocky Mountaineer; Glacier National Park; land or cruise tours in Eastern Canada and the Maritimes… it’s all about what we think of when we imagine true Canadian culture."

ACV’s Canada Collection includes everything from Urban Getaways, Guided Tours, Cruises and Golf Adventures, to Camping Trips, Wildlife Adventures, Fly & Rail Vacations, Ski Vacations, and more – whatever your client’s definition of their authentic Canadian experience.

For the avid skier, ACV’s ski program is one of its most popular. "It includes direct or connecting roundtrip flights, the convenience of roundtrip shuttles from the airport to the mountain and back, accommodation options that range from cozy lodges to luxurious hotels, flexible stays of three, five or seven nights, and of course, ski passes based on your client’s length of stay," said Gain.

In terms of where the program takes you, ACV offers stays in Western Canada at such iconic sites as Big White, Fernie, Revelstoke, Sunshine Village and Whistler Blackcomb, as well as the epic hills of the East – Le Massif, Mont-Sainte-Anne and Mont-Tremblant.

Other winter adventures featured in the collection takes the "Canadiana" element and turns it up to 11. There’s the ‘Yukon Winter Dream’ out of Whitehorse, a five-night package full of dog-sledding, Northern Lights viewing, hot springs and snowmobiling. There’s also the six-night ‘Snowmobile Adventures in the Laurentians’ tour that explores Mont Laurier. Or for that truly Canadian wildlife experience, ACV features a six-day/five-night ‘Churchill Town & Tundra’ tour that gets clients up-close to polar bears.

In summer, clients can take guided camping trips on Vancouver Island or a combo Banff/Jasper trip for that quintessential Canadian experience. They can go see grizzly bears in the wild in Great Bear Rainforest, discover the Rockies by train with Rocky Mountaineer on a Fly & Rail vacation, or tantalize their taste buds on a 12-night ‘Culinary Quebec and Ontario Wine Country’ Fly & Drive. The options are as vast as Canada itself.

As with its Europe Collection, ACV has teamed up with Trafalgar to bring clients "The Good Life" through a selection of guided vacations. This includes an 11-day ‘Enchanting Canadian Maritimes’ tour, a 10-day ‘Secrets of the Rockies and Glacier National Park’ tour, and a 16-day ‘Best of Eastern Canada with Canadian Maritimes Cruise’ tour, among others. Each of these include hand-picked I’nsider Experiences,’ VIP entry to many sights, cherry-picked hotels, luxury coach transportation, and the expert services of a dedicated Travel Director.

"There so much more to our Canada Collection than you can imagine," said Gain. "We’ve designed it for both Canadians and all other cultures so we can bring the best of our vast and beautiful country to the world."
